Painted Desert, Arizona Scarf

This image taken from space looks nothing like the traditional idea of a desert offering, as it does, a rich palate of greens, lavenders and whites with not a sandy colour in sight.

It is another example of the coming together of nature, technology and high resolution images to create something original and beautiful that is very Weston.

The "badlands" of the Painted Desert (named in 1540 by Spanish explorers as El Desierto Pintado) runs from the Grand Canyon down to the amazing Petrified Forest National Park, and its many colours have been created by the minerals in the sedimentary soils.
